Best Pull Up Bars – Which Should You Buy In 2020?
Not everyone gets time to go to the gym. We all have busy lifestyles that make us want to get home after a long day and stay there. Well, that shouldn’t come in the way of fitness. If you would like to know the benefit of bodyweight exercises and why a lot of top athletes are turning to them, check out this article here. However, in this article, we will talk about which is the best bull up bars of 2020, and why you should buy one.
The Best Way To Do Dips And Use Pull Up Bars
A pull up dip station combination is by far the best possible way to perform dips and chin-ups. We can use other equipment like bars that fit in between doorways, but they are not as safe or as productive as a free-standing station.
With a dip and pull up stand or station we have about the most versatile piece of equipment, we can get to improve our muscular size and strength significantly. Many trainees overlook the importance of using bodyweight exercise, thinking they do not offer enough resistance.
Watch them as they struggle to them even perform a few dips or chins. It takes some time to become strong enough to perform a full set of 12 reps in these excellent exercises, but they lead to some serious growth. You will find that the station can also be used for a variety of abdominal exercises as well, and this makes them well worth purchasing.
What we will find is that a sturdy piece of equipment like this allows us to perform our training safely. Many other pieces of equipment can see us wobbling about trying to keep our balance, but a dip and chin station should be heavy enough and sturdy enough to easily maintain a fixed position on the floor with no wobble.
Used properly, they are the best way to perform chins and dips and will lead to some excellent results. You will get much more prominent in the chest and back as well as improving the size of your triceps, biceps, and shoulders. These bodyweight exercises really should be as part of any trainees’ regime, and for many, they are a much better option than performing bench press and barbell rows. Both of these can put too much strain in the wrong places and can also lead to injury if not conducted safely in a good quality power rack.

Best Pull Up Bars – Which Should You Buy In 2020?
Now that you know why you should have one, and you know that you can buy them online, let’s take a look at some of the best pull up bars that you can buy:
- Ikonfitness Pull Up Bar with Smart Larger Hooks Technology
- Ultimate Body Press Ceiling Mounted Pull Up Bar.
- RELIFE REBUILD YOUR LIFE Power Tower Workout Dip Station.
- XMark Commercial XM-9025.
I have chosen 4 of the best pull up bars that you can buy right now, and if you are trying to improve your fitness, but do not have the time to go to the gym, I highly suggest that you buy one of these. Before we get too far into the reviews, I would like to tell you that I have two of these: The Ikonfitness and the XM-9025.
You may wonder why I have two; well, I will tell you. I love the convenience of being able to workout inside when the weather is not too good, so I have the XM-9025 mounted on the wall outside. However, when the weather is not so great, I still want to keep up with my regime indoors, so I use the Ikonfitness. Anyway, enough about me, let’s have a look at them individually.
Everyone has a doorway in their home somewhere, and that is all you need for this pull up bar. There are a few prerequisites for the doorframe if you want to buy the Ikonfitness; however, it is very accommodating. This bar is one of the most exceptional pieces of workout equipment that I own.
Having a permanent pull up bar on a doorframe can become an eyesore and a hazard for some taller people. However, you do not need to use any screws to mount it, and it also folds up and hangs in a closet for when you want to store it.
As you have seen in the opening section for this article, there are a few other bodyweight exercises that you should try to incorporate into your routine. Well, luckily for you, Ikonfitness have you covered. This fantastic contraption will allow you to do at least 15 different variations of pull up, chin up, and floor exercises like push up and dips. There is only one other piece of equipment that is more diverse than this one, and we have that on the list, too.
- Easy to store. – Fold it down and hang it up. If you have a wardrobe or closet, you can store it with ease.
- Simple to install. – No screws, nails or other fixings.
- Multifunctional. – There are a lot of exercises that you can do with this.
- Low price. – For the amount of use that you can get out of this, you will be hard pushed to find better with the same quality.
- High weight limit. – If you are under 440lbs (200kg), it can handle it.
- Double bars. – If you are tall or short, you can use the bar that suits you.
- Comfortable grips. – High-quality foam padding for comfort and blister prevention.
- Fitting. – The only negative point that I have found with this type of pull up bar is that you need the right size doorframe. If you do, then there may not be any bad points.
If you have a lack of space for your workout, and the right size doorframe, I think that you would be kicking yourself if you do not buy this. At this price, it is undoubtedly not going to be long until they put the price up!
If you have a larger area that you can use for a pull-up bar, and that includes a ceiling, this product may be the best for you. Although I am still a massive fan of the doorway bars, you may want something fixed and have space for it. While you may think that you need a concrete ceiling for these, that is not necessary. Even if you have wooden joists in your ceiling, this bar will fit. The risers are reversible to accommodate either 16 or 24-inch beams.
This pull up bar is not removable like the one above; however, if you have the room for it, it will serve you just as well. The ergonomic shape of the bar will help target different areas of the body while keeping maximum comfort. Some people have reported that the grips may slide a little; however, that is not something that we have found. Although, if it did happen, it is nothing that a little super glue would not fix.
- Ergonomic fit. – The bar is similar to the EZ curl bars to allow for less wrist strain.
- Easy to install. – Super simple to install after you find the rafters.
- It does not take up wall space. – Having a bar mounted to the ceiling will leave your walls free for other equipment.
- Foam pad may slip.
A lot of home gyms can have an empty space in the middle of them. While the outsides of the room are usually reserved for larger equipment, the center of the room becomes a little redundant. Taking advantage of that space is the Ultimate Body Press Ceiling Mounted Pull Up Bar. It is often high enough for you to walk under unobstructed (depending on the height of your ceiling), but it also makes excellent use of the space too.
Next on the list is the power tower by Relife. This piece of kit is for the severe bodyweight workout enthusiast. If you have been looking at a space in your home or gym, and wondering how you can use it, this is how. You will have the perfect bodyweight accessory for any home fitness fanatic. You can do pullups, chin-ups, dips, knee raises, push-ups, and any combination of them that you can think of.
Quite honestly, if I had the room, I would have one of these myself. It is not that it takes up a lot of room, but I have other equipment that I use. That is why I have the other two bars. However, as I have said, if you want to get yourself into bodyweight fitness, or if you are already a keen enthusiast, I highly recommend this.
- All in one solution for bodyweight fitness. – There are many things that you can use this for.
- Strong and sturdy. –
- Comfortable foam pads right where you need them.
- Easy setup.
- Takes up more floor space than the others. – If you have the room, that is not a problem.
- Instructions not as clear as they could be. – That does not take away the ease of set up. Work your way up from the bottom, and do not over tighten the bolts!
If you want the ultimate bodyweight workout station, then you do not need to look any further than this. There are so many exercises that you can do on it that you will be able to devise your own bodyweight workout plan with ease. If you have the room for it and want to incorporate a lot of bodyweight fitness into your routine, buy it now!
Absolutely my favorite pull up bar in this article by a long shot. The XM-9025 has everything that a dedicated pull up should have. Yes, I agree, it does not have all of the functions that some of the others do, but the build quality and additional bars make up for that. If you have ever been into pull-ups, you will know that hand positioning can drastically change the workout that you have. Well, this bar has a whopping five different handholds for you to use.
This bar is the one that I have outside mounted on my wall to use when the weather is beautiful, and sometimes when it’s not so nice. If you do use it outside, make sure that it’s not in the rain. Although the rain will not ruin the bar because it has knurled grips instead of foam, you still want to dry them off before you use it. I could go on for a long time about how good this bar is, but you have to try it to believe it.
One thing that I would like to note, however, is that if you want to install this outside, you will need wall fixings for it. Personally, I used M10 expansion bolts to mount it onto my outside wall. They were not included with my pack, so I doubt they will be with yours. However, at about a dollar each, they are not an issue.
- Outdoor suitable
- Multiple grip positions
- Strong as an ox
- Can mount it indoors on a 48″ separated stud wall
- Knurled grips for extra grip
- It takes up wall space
- Can not be taken down as quickly as some
- It does not offer multiple uses like the Ikonfitness or the RELIFE.
Although the price is a little higher for this than some of the others, the price is well worth it. You will get so much more from this than you will for some of the others. If you mount it outside, you will not even know that it is there. You won’t have the eyesore of a bar across your doorframe, nor will you have the floor space taken up. However, you will have to leave the floor free to use. Sincerely, I can not praise this pull up bar enough; it is the best I have ever, or will ever own. On another note, if you use it a lot, think about buying some chalk or gloves.
Each of these pieces of equipment has its own strengths and weaknesses. However, all of them will improve your own strength. If you have space, I would suggest that you buy the power tower. If you have very little space, then the Ikonfitness is your best bet. If you are like me, then get the XM-9025 and the Ikonfitness. You will not regret those purchases, I promise. I have had many gains and many great workouts with the equipment that I have bought.
